Prism Launcher is an open-source Minecraft launcher built with Qt around clean separation. Each instance is its own walled folder for mods, packs, Java settings, and Microsoft accounts.
Yes. The launcher is free software under GPL-3. Minecraft itself still requires a legal purchase for online play.
Prism Launcher continues the community MultiMC-derived line after the PolyMC fork. Current maintenance happens under the Prism name. Prefer 11.0.3 builds from this site for ongoing support and a clutter-free workflow.
No. Prism Launcher is an independent community project with no affiliation to Mojang Studios or Microsoft.
Windows SmartScreen rates reputation for less common binaries. A prompt does not prove malware. Confirm you used the official download, then follow the SmartScreen guide if you trust the file.
Yes. Flatpak builds are listed on the download page (~40 MiB) beside the AppImage option. Choose the format your distro prefers.
Yes. Use Add instance and pick the MultiMC-compatible import path. After import, re-check Java settings and accounts inside the new boundary. See Guides for the numbered sequence.
Version 11.0.3 improves offline authentication behavior for setups that need it. Online Microsoft login remains the path for ordinary multiplayer on Mojang or Microsoft accounts.
For online play on modern Minecraft, yes. Prism stores account sessions locally so you can switch profiles between isolated instances.
Release 11.0.3 includes a CurseForge CDN fix from July 2026. Update if pack downloads stalled on older builds.
Forge, Fabric, Quilt, and NeoForge are supported alongside vanilla instances. Mods must match the loader and Minecraft version of that instance.
The project is open source under GPL-3. Download official builds, compare checksums when available, and review the Trust page. You remain responsible for mods and packs you install inside each instance.
Yes. The Windows MSVC installer targets Windows 10 and Windows 11. If MSVCP140 is missing, install the Visual C++ Redistributable.
